内容
The PANDA (AntiProton ANnihilation at DArmstadt) experiment is a future project for the investigation of fundamental questions of the strong interaction. It is planned to go into operation around 2014 at the new Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) in Darmstadt, Germany.
It is an internal hydrogen-target experiment at the planned High Energy Storage Ring (HESR), which will provide a beam of cooled antiprotons with momenta of 1-15 GeV/c. An ungated GEM-based Time Projection Chamber (TPC) with continuous read-out is proposed as the central tracker of PANDA.
After introducing my home town and institution, the PANDA experiment and our TPC design, I will present results of Monte Carlo simulations of this detector and of measurements with a TPC test chamber carried out with cosmic muons.
