Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) and Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) have demonstrated an ultrafast all-optical switching operation with the lowest energy consumption ever reported for all-optical switching at less than one picosecond (one trillionth of a second).
